Basic concept draft for the set design (front elevation pictured left and ground plan pictured right). First ideas were to create levels and emphasize the power difference between characters as shown with the varying platform heights.
Final drafts for the set design with the front elevation pictured on the left and the ground plan pictured right. The intention of the design is to mimic a house while emphasizing Natalie's isolation with her room being the only fully constructed room and the height of the stairs. The rotating platform is meant to add to the chaos and unknown of the situation.
Costume renditions of the characters mainly inspired by 2010's fashion. With the parents-Dan having the well put together, middle-aged, working class dad look and Diana having the millennial, messy, but still trying to appear stable look. In addition to the kids-Gabe having the successful, upper status, clean guy aesthetic and Natalie having the grunge, outcast and downtown girl aesthetic (matching the decor of her room at the top of the set). The family core of Diana, Dan and Gabe are have hints of blue to show their connection to each other while Natalie has a green palette analogous to the core family. Showing her slight connection, but obvious distance from the family.
